Without you, Mpulse Studio wouldn’t be much… it would basically be me and a room overflowing with art and creative ideas scribbled all over the walls. My Nautical Bohemia Collection is all about falling in love with adventure. Whether it’s literal or metaphorical, it’s the journeys that we embark upon in life that make us who we are. Whether it’s taking a trip, going on a long run, making a new friend, entering a romantic relationship, starting a new job… there is always a new adventure waiting for us to embrace.

Obviously, no one planned for a pandemic year, and it’s been hard on all of us. That struggle looks different to everyone. From loneliness and depression, to financial struggles and everything in between, COVID 19 has impacted all of us.

From the Sea to the Studio

Imagine a day out in the Caribbean, sailing along the crystal clear turquoise waters, maybe sipping on a rum punch as the island breeze whips through your hair, and looking up at the bright blue sky and taking note of billowing sail, pushing your vessel forward through the following wind.

Painted on old worn catamaran sails, my Nautical Bohemia Collection serves as a metaphor for the journeys that we all go on... these sails that I’m working on are worn and tattered and wrinkled after being beaten up by the sea, then tossed aside and replaced.

The Significance of Nautical Bohemia

When I launched Nautical Bohemia, I knew what narrative I wanted to tell, but I had no idea how significant it would be right now. This work in progress, ‘Evolution of Beauty’, illustrates my thoughts on mortality and the evolution of life, from the lush, vibrant flowers to the remains of our human form.

In Support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and I would like to take time this month to honor those in our community who have endured trauma of this nature.

I'd like to begin by sharing a story about a recipient of a Love Necklace.

A Walk through San Pedro

Whether you arrive in San Pedro, Belize by water taxi, or a single engine Cessna, you’re guaranteed to step into a damp, salty atmosphere where magic lingers at every turn. Hidden in the shade of the coconut palms, woven through the tangled mangrove branches, glistening in the seawater shimmer, the island possesses an energy that I’m blessed to connect with.

I want to thank everyone who is a part of The Love Necklace Community. There is a woman who is healing from domestic abuse who is wearing the Love Necklace that was gifted to her through the purchase of a Love Necklace. I wish you could have been there when she received it so you could have seen how grateful she was... how much she smiled.

Relax your Mind

I approached the crude structure and pulled aside a piece of madras fabric that had been fashioned into an entrance. Incense smoke twisted and curled through the air in a thick haze. As my eyes adjusted to the dimly lit, smoke filled room, they fixated upon a Nefertiti-esque woman.
