When I first visited San Pedro, I spent time on a property on the north part of the island. If you're not familiar, there is a bridge that separates the north and south. Just south of the bridge is the bustling town.

From a neighborhood called Boca del Rio (which translates to 'mouth of the river', which is where I live) just past the airport, is lively and energetic. This is where the majority of businesses are located. Golf carts rumble up and down the cobble stone streets next to bicyclists, pedestrians, and stray dogs, which we refer to as 'pot-lickers.'

If I were not surrounded by coconut palms, and my drafting table didn't face the sea, it could be easy to forget that I'm on an island. At times the town feels a bit like a concrete jungle... gritty like the French Quarter or Old San Juan.

But once you cross the bridge, time slows down. The air is filled with chirps and buzzes from the tropical wildlife. You might have to slow down while an iguana lazily makes his way across the palmetto lined road.

About twenty minutes up the road lies a property called Casa Blanca. It's a quintessential white stucco Caribbean-esque property with archways that open to a sandy beach peppered with royal palms, dwarf palms, coconut palms, orchids, and lillys. It's also laden with energy that will subtly remind you that you're never really alone when you're there. You can read more about that here.

This landscape, titled Trade Wind Breeze, is located on the southern side of the lawn and leads you straight to the sea.

Through my landscapes, my hope is that I can show you a perspective of this island that draws you in so you can feel the soft, warm wind brush across your face as you breathe in the easterly breeze.

I invite you to close your eyes, take a deep breath, feel time begin to slow and imagine that you're here, in San Pedro, listening to the distant roar of the white caps as they tumble over the reef.

Sending you love from the tropics,
