The Significance of Nautical Bohemia

When I launched Nautical Bohemia, I knew what narrative I wanted to tell, but I had no idea how significant it would be right now. This work in progress, Evolution of Beauty, illustrates my thoughts on mortality and the evolution of life, from the lush, vibrant flowers to the remains of our human form.

Life is a journey. We are the captain of our own ship and we trim the sails. We may lose our compass. Sometimes storms will obstruct our vision and we may fall off course. We may feel exhausted, devastated, undone, but that is only an illusion. It is just a leg of a beautiful adventure. It is our ability to love ourselves through the heavy rain that ultimately pushes us forward through the following winds, because when we allow love to guide us, we'll always find our way back into the light... that's what Nautical Bohemia is all about... falling in love with the adventure.

My intention with this work is to create art that evokes feelings of strength and confidence—the kind of strength and confidence that can weather any storm—the kind of strength and confidence that we can tap into on our most difficult days, to remind us that no storm will last forever, and we are beacons of light on the darkest night.

When I began this narrative, I had no idea what was about to hit this world, but right now we are all distantly together, waiting out this storm. This art is for you. My hope is that it inspires you to breathe into feelings of hope and faith that something bright and beautiful is in the works for us all… and in the mean time, trust your strength. Trust your confidence, and trust that this part of the journey is preparing you for something amazing.
