Navigating Social Media Trends: Women Empowerment, Halloween in Summer, and My Memoir Journey
I know that social media can be overwhelming, and sometimes it feels easier to avoid it altogether. All summer long, I’ve seen so many random trends come and go… most of which I couldn’t relate to. But there were two that really stood out to me as powerful and engaging:
The trend of women uplifting one another, as seen in the Olympics.
Halloween in the summertime.
Both of these are relevant to what I want to share with you today.
As I work on my memoir, I’ve been spending time with my Memoir Journey Journal, and I’ve learned so much about myself and my story—things I had no idea impacted me as deeply as they have. One of the biggest revelations was my connection with strong women. Looking back, I realized that I’m at my best when I’m connected and working with women who inspire me. That’s why I’m so excited to introduce you to Marnie Baesler, an author I’m working with.
A sample of her Advanced Reader Copy for her upcoming memoir, I Told Me So, is ready for you to read.
In this sample, featuring chapters twelve through seventeen, you’ll uncover the pivotal moments that led Marnie into a toxic relationship and the psychological traps that ensnared her. You’ll learn about the motivations that drove her and the red flags she missed.
It’s been a blessing to work with her, and I’ll be sharing more as her book comes closer to completion. When we first started working together and her story began to unfold, I was floored by how brilliantly she crafted her plan to escape a decade long abusive relationship. Since childhood, she’s endured so much—enough to make anyone give up. But she didn’t. She wanted more out of life and figured out how to get more than she ever imagined... how to not just survive, but to thrive.
Her story is also a testament to the power of manifestation and I encourage you to let her journey inspire you as well.
Now, back to summertime social media trend number two:
👻Halloween in the summer👻
I don’t know who came up with it, but I’m obsessed. And now that we’re over halfway through August, my Instagram feed is filled with adorable Halloween decor ideas. I’m sharing this because there’s literally one week left of my🌴Summer Special for my Caribbean Collection🌴
Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean we can’t blend the tropical allure of summer with the spooky vibes of fall.
As you know, I love telling a haunting tale, which is why I’m featuring an illustration from my short story, Trade Wind Breeze. If you haven’t read it yet, or want to revisit it, you can check it out here. I promise it’ll inspire you to explore some of the most charming Halloween decor trends.
For this week’s writing prompt, I mentioned that working in my Memoir Journey Journal helped me discover that the most powerful times in my life were when I stood with strong women. What about you?
This week’s prompt:
When do you feel like you’re at your best?
