Navigating the Memoir Journey: Patience, Transformation, and Empowerment
The Patience of the Creative Process: A Journey Worth Taking
As many of us know, creative projects require patience. Whether you're working on a painting, a business idea, or writing a book, the process is rarely quick or straightforward. One of my favorite sailing quotes encapsulates this perfectly: "It's about the journey, not the destination."
This philosophy rings true for books as well. Writing a book is a marathon, not a sprint. It can take months, sometimes even years, to complete a manuscript, get it print-ready, published, and finally into your hands. There are countless behind-the-scenes steps involved in this process, and as someone who works closely with authors, I take pride in handling most of these details. This allows the authors I work with to focus solely on their craft—writing.
Introducing Marnie Baesler: A Journey of Resilience and Transformation
I’m thrilled to introduce you to Marnie Baesler, the author of her debut memoir, I Told Me So. This powerful memoir takes readers on a deeply personal journey through Marnie’s life, growing up in a small Montana ranching town during the '80s and '90s. Her story is one of navigating small-town drama, dealing with a family burdened by alcohol dependency, and coping with an overwhelming need to please others. From a young age, Marnie learned to "never rock the boat."
But everything changed when Marnie found herself trapped in a relationship that consumed over a decade of her life. One day, while passing by a mirror in the home she shared with her emotionally abusive husband, she caught a glimpse of herself and didn’t recognize the haunting reflection staring back. This moment of disillusionment sparked a transformation within her. Marnie made a promise to herself—to follow her heart and remove herself and her two children from a relationship that had reduced her to a shadow of the woman she once was.
From Surviving to Thriving: Marnie’s Blueprint for Empowerment
For years, Marnie survived by being a people pleaser, but eventually, this coping mechanism failed her. When fate forced her to confront the truth, she whispered the words, “I told me so,” and vowed to listen to her intuition, guiding her toward freedom and beyond.
In her memoir, Marnie has created a blueprint for women who are ready to step away from the pain and suffering caused by an abusive partner. Her story is not just one of survival, but of thriving. She offers readers a powerful guide on recognizing the red flags of emotional abuse and finding the strength to exit with savvy and grace. I’m beyond honored to be a part of this journey with Marnie.
