As I’ve been going through the back end of my website and making edits, I stumbled upon my Texas Collection and felt compelled to bring it to the forefront for a little while.

I’ve been referencing my debut novel, Sketches from the Heart of a Texas Artist, more and more lately and while my heart is in the Caribbean, I’m still very connected to, and driven by, my Texas roots… opting to listen to Willie Nelson croon about “blue eyes crying in the rain” over Bob Marley pleading “no woman, no cry.”

There are some pieces of art within this collection that are still available, both watercolors and acrylic on canvas, and I’ve reduced the prices, not to devalue them, but because I would rather they hang on your wall than sit in a studio where no one can enjoy them.

Mpulse Studio is now a decade old. The paintings within The Texas Collection comprise the first two bodies of work that I created back in 2014 when I shed my golden handcuffs and opened Mpulse Studio: Welcome to Texas and South Lamar Botanical Tour.

It’s through these paintings that I found my voice through connection to my surroundings, portrayed through my salt-scrubbed watercolor style.

and just a little fun fact… this Six Point Buck (scroll down to see) was the first piece I created when I started it all, and it’s still one of my favorite paintings.

Creativity comes from many different channels in many different ways, and as we are introduced to new ideas, of course, the things we create will transcend, but that doesn’t mean that our original ideas are not still a part of who we are.

I imagine that there are things that you created ten years ago that still hold a place in your heart, whether it was something you painted or wrote or sculpted, a song you wrote, a meal you cooked, or an outfit you styled.

Our nostalgic trips down memory lane can be powerful, which is what I felt today when I stumbled upon The Texas Collection and pulled it out of the archives.

I’d love to hear about some of the things you’ve created over the years, and how they’ve morphed into new ideas.

Sending you love from the tropics.
