Alejandra Castaneda
I met Alejandra at a Christmas Party hosted by her significant other, who happens to be the Love Necklace Campaign 2018 Spotlight Donor. She and I visited about her home country, Guatemala, which borders Belize, where I live, and support two women’s shelters through The Love Necklace Campaign. While the two countries share a border and a similar landscape, each is comprised of their own unique cultures and traditions. When I was seeking models for a photoshoot, Alejandra volunteered and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture her faith filled graceful energy in the delicate gold necklace. When she agreed to let me feature her in this series of ‘images of love’ interviews, I couldn’t wait to learn what love looks like from her perspective.
Alejandra, I’m so drawn to your connection to your faith and thoughtful spirit. What is it that inspires you?
Love inspires me… to love with abandon, to love in spite of… to love unconditionally. Love makes the tears, the sadness, the pain from loss –– love makes all of those things bearable.
What are things that interest you within your community?
I like to stay politically active and informed. I love supporting small businesses and staying involved with my community, both personally and professionally.
What does being a part of The Love Necklace Community mean to you?
Being a part of The Love Necklace Community means that I get to model the meaning of love in the things I do and the words I speak. It is a reminder that everyone is called to love. It is a reminder that EVERYONE deserves to be loved and valued.
Which women’s shelter did you choose for your donated necklace to go to, and Why?
I chose Genesis Women’s Shelter because of how they empower and support women who have endured domestic abuse.
If you could say anything to the woman who is wearing your donated necklace, what would it be?
The Lord knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. He set you apart before you were born. You are loved. You are cherished. You are a daughter of the Most High. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Believe it!
