Margaret Hulse is an experienced writer capable of written expression in several genres. For the last twelve years, Margaret has written across a broad spectrum. In that time, she has written and published novels, short stories, poems, and technical content for businesses. As an artist, she has always possessed a three-dimensional view of the world. She approaches the craft of writing with a similar perspective—one that lies simultaneously beneath, above, and behind the subject of her narrative. She is wedded to the notion of story and storytelling. Her command of character, plot, point-of-view, rising and falling action, and strong use of visual imagery keep her readers locked in. The subtle wordplay of the poet is also embedded within her narratives. Her ability to organize, outline, and draft are apparent in the composition of her longer works. In her shorter pieces, she opens her heart, as all poets must, to a paradigm beyond the rational.
I have tracked Margaret’s work since she began writing. As a life-long free-lancer with several short stories, essays, and poems in print, I’ve had her turn to me for advice, both editorial and motivational. She first contacted me for assistance when I was a high school English teacher with strong interest in grammar and syntax. Her work quickly graduated through that phase of writing and into the search for truth that all art, including writing, must entail.
Margaret’s writing career is now airborne; I believe that she has the discipline and heart to take it higher. For this reason, I encourage you to give her a chance with your own story. I promise, she will treat it as her own. She will perform her magic with it and keep it living for years to come.
