This painting, supporting Austin Sunshine Camps, represents the most magical summer nights you could imagine, as a child or an adult... canoeing through Lady Bird lake just before twilight... watching the Lamar bridge glow as the setting sun bounces off the water. Canoe Night, coupled with the majesty of the Lost Chief Ceremony, where each camper is gifted with a feather upon their introduction to the Zilker Tribe. Memories from these experiences are not likely to fade.

This painting supports the Capital Area Dental Foundation (CADF), an organization that I've worked with in many capacities for several years. It was important for me to capture the work of CADF through my art, but as a wildlife artist, I struggled with the subject of the piece. I thought so much about how the dentists serve the community, I began to research altruism in nature and learned how honey bees work to ensure that their own communities (colonies) are served. Seeing as how a dentist's office is often busy and buzzing, I thought this was a fitting analogy. I used the colors from the CADF logo to highlight various aspects of the painting in efforts to really define this piece a real representation of the organization.
