Let's Get Personal

Throughout the past few years, I've been emotionally and financially beaten down at times to, what felt like, the lowest possible denominator, but through it all, I've refused to give up.  When I decided to go all in and open Mpulse Studio, I vowed to never look back.  People would say things to me like, "That's so amazing that you've started an art business.  It's okay if it doesn't work out and you need to go back to an office job, at least you can say that you tried... most people cannot say that about starting a business."

I continue to find comments like that unnerving, though the longer I persist, the less often I hear them.  My response, however, has always been the same: "Mpulse Studio will succeed.  I have no choice, this is my job, this is what I've chosen to do for the rest of my life."  There have been times that my work hasn't paid, and time when it's paid in abundance.  There are times when my work is mind numbingly monotonous, and times when new ideas erupt and flow like lava, and there are times when my vision of Mpulse Studio is clear as day, and times when I turn around and I barely recognize my own art.

If you asked me two years ago, I wouldn't have had any idea that I would be a writer whose lost in a love affair with the Caribbean.  It wouldn't have crossed my mind that I would own a jewelry line, or that I would be speaking to audiences about using creative resources to find passion and motivation.  But I also wouldn't have been able to tell you that along the course of these successes, that I'd find myself so entrenched in the throws of darkness that I'd wonder if I even possessed an iota of personal value, or that somewhere along the way, a mysterious source would sneak up inside my soul and challenge me to lift my arms, rest my wrists on my keyboard, and possess my fingers to begin tapping away, filling blank pages until I accepted my Hero's Journey.

Once I started writing, my truths became crystal clear; not in a way that I know what is going to happen tomorrow or the next day, but in a way that I am certain that if I continue to bare my soul and share my story, Mpulse Studio | Charlotte St. Charles will guide me on a path of success greater than I'd ever imagined.
